How can we get our wiggles out?
Our October Creative Curriculum Unit was centered around exercise! The children enjoyed obstacle courses, lots of motor room trips, and practiced lots of gross motor actions during group occupational therapy. During group speech the children worked on following one step to multi-step directions during yoga and child-based exercise activities. And of course, we continued to have Matt and Molly each week which the kids LOVE as they take turns acting out the stories together. During LCA we continued our alphabet adventures as we learned about the letters N, C, K, E & H. The colors we learned about during this month were purple, pink, white, brown, & black. Our weekly focus for shapes were: star, oval, diamond, pentagon, & hexagon. We also learned about the numbers 6-10 and our five new sight words for the month were: me, I, like, see, & a.
As we explored the Creative Curriculum Unit our objectives were:
What kind of different exercises are there?
How do our bodies work when we exercise & what different ways can we move our bodies?
What do our bodies need in order to move & exercise?
What jobs are related to exercise?
We ended our month of October celebrating Halloween! The kids all looked SO adorable in their costumes and boy were they thrilled to show them off! And of course we practiced trick-or-treating around Learning and Therapy Corner which everyone looks forward to each year!
